2026 Valspar Championship
Shaking Hands with Matt Fitzpatrick
From the agony of standing over a 14 footer to win to the bliss of raising the trophy. Matt Fitzpatricks win last Sunday was legendary.

2026 Valspar Championship
From Agony to Bliss
From the agony of standing over a 14 footer to win the tournament, to the bliss of a champion's circle, the 2026 Valspar Championship delivered a finish for the ages. Jeff had the unique opportunity to shake hands with Matt Fitzpatrick immediately following his clutch putt to secure the win.
It is one thing to watch the pros handle the pressure on TV, but standing on the green as the dust settles brings a different perspective to the grit, blood, sweat and tears required to succeed at this level. Whether you are a "common folk" golfer or a major champion, the "knees knocking" feeling of a must-make putt is the universal language of the game.
At TPC Sawgrass just a weekearlier, Fitzpatrick had battled all week and stood in prime position for one of golf’s most prestigious titles. But a bogey on the final hole left him one stroke shy of the win, finishing second to Cameron Young in a stunning finale that left fans and commentators alike buzzing.
That disappointment, however, only fueled his next performance.
Redemption on the Florida Swing
At the Valspar Championship — his first start after The Players — Fitzpatrick found redemption in dramatic fashion. Despite a quiet final round with just three birdies, he drained a crucial birdie putt on the 18th hole to edge out American David Lipsky by a single stroke and claim the title. It was his third victory on the PGA Tour and his first of the 2026 season.
What This Win Means
Fitzpatrick’s Valspar victory isn’t just another trophy in the cabinet — it’s a statement. It demonstrated his ability to rebound immediately from heartbreak, a trait shared by many of golf’s elite. That kind of resilience doesn’t just win tournaments — it builds legacy. With this win, he not only adds another PGA Tour title to his résumé but also solidifies his status as one of the most formidable competitors on tour today.
And with the Masters Tournament looming just weeks away, this confidence‑boosting performance could be the perfect springboard into major championship contention — a prospect that excites golf fans around the world.
Behind the Scenes: Grit, Family, and Focus
Off the course, the win seemed even sweeter. Fitzpatrick’s wife, Katherine, publicly celebrated his victory, underscoring the personal support behind his professional success. And for those lucky enough to meet him, including our company’s owner, it was a reminder that behind every great athlete is a network of encouragement — especially during the lows that make the highs worth savoring.
Looking Ahead
With momentum on his side and confidence restored, all eyes now turn to how Fitzpatrick will carry this form forward into the rest of the season’s biggest events. Based on his recent performance, and more importantly how he responded to adversity, many believe we haven’t seen the last of this champion this year.
