Detroit’s PGA Tour stop went out on a high note, the playoff run is here, and we close with a game plan for anyone stuck in the 80s and 90s. PGA Tour caddie Mike Hicks — Payne Stewart’s former caddie — recaps a memorable final Rocket Classic and lays out the road to Atlanta, and Golfers Unite’s Emily Nowak shares how mid-handicappers can finally break 80 and 90.
Here’s what went down on Episode 24.

Caddie Corner: The Rocket’s Last Dance & the Wyndham
Last week, Mike previewed the Rocket Mortgage Classic’s final year in Detroit — and this week the tournament got the send-off it deserved. Michael Thorbjornsen, 24, rolled in a 26-footer on his final hole to win the last-ever Rocket Classic at Detroit Golf Club — his first PGA Tour title, two clear of Xander Schauffele.
Mike Hicks (Payne Stewart’s former caddie) recaps a fitting farewell, from the links-style fescue that dressed up the Donald Ross layout to the famous “313 jackpot” — the $313,000 charity prize for making 3-1-3 on holes 11–13 — that went eight straight years without ever being claimed. He also sizes up Xander Schauffele as he works back from a wrist injury, Davis Riley’s rocky Sunday, and looks ahead to the Wyndham Championship at Sedgefield — the short, Donald Ross, par-70 regular-season finale where the bubble players fighting to keep their cards turn it into a putting contest.

Caddie Corner: The FedEx Playoffs & the Presidents Cup
With the regular season wrapping, Mike maps out the FedEx Cup Playoffs — the FedEx St. Jude Championship at TPC Southwind (70 players), the BMW Championship at Bellerive in St. Louis (50), and the Tour Championship at East Lake in Atlanta (30) — and what’s on the line for players trying to keep their status.
Then a look ahead to the Presidents Cup at Medinah, where Brandt Snedeker captains the U.S. against Geoff Ogilvy’s International team. Mike shares his honest reservations about the event — and tells a great story from the very first Presidents Cup in 1993, when he caddied for David Frost and negotiated $5,000 to walk a cart-only course 36 holes a day. Plus the new-look fall schedule: stops in Mexico and Japan, the debut Good Good Championship in Austin, the new Biltmore Championship in Asheville, and the RSM Classic finale at Sea Island.

Guest Segment: How to Break 80 & 90, with Emily Nowak
Golfers Unite’s Emily Nowak joins Jeff with a game plan for mid-handicappers — and it starts with killing the blow-up hole. Her keys:
- Take your medicine. When you’re in trouble, punch out instead of going for the hero shot.
- The 7-of-10 rule. Only attempt a shot you can pull off seven times out of ten.
- Play to the widest landing spot off the tee — even if that means leaving the driver in the bag.
- Aim for the fat of the green instead of pin-seeking, and always pick a safe miss.
- Wedge distance control with the “clock system” for dialing in partial shots, so you stop bleeding strokes around the green.
Emily’s back next week for chipping — and she’s building the Fairway Fem Club to make the game more welcoming to women and beginners.
